“The Guru” Soundtrack

In 2002, a year before S Club split and went their separate ways – it was announced that the song, Every Kinda People which was taken from S Club’s final album, Seeing Double – and featured vocals by Jo only – would feature on the soundtrack for the movie The Guru. The song was planned to be released as Jo’s first solo single, and despite a music video being filmed – the video was never released. (a behind the scenes video and interview with Jo from the set of the music video was aired by BBC in 2002). The song is featured in the movie and plays during the end-credits as well as being featured on “The Guru” official soundtrack CD.

Debut Solo Album & First Single release…
After S Club split in 2003, many fans patiently awaited the launch of Jo’s solo music career.. but she took two years to herself post-S Club before eventually getting back in the studio. In July 2005, she announced that she had signed a recording deal with Sanctuary Records and would be releasing her debut solo album, and first single later that year. In the summer of 2005, she played at various summer music Festivals around the UK, as well as clubs and Universities to promote the release of her solo music.

She released her first single , “What Hurts The Most” on the 26th September 2005, and held various different CD signings around the UK. The song peaked at number #13 on the UK single charts, and her debut solo album, “Relentless” was released a week later, but charted at number #48. After Sanctuary Records made the announcement that a second single from the album was on it’s way, there was some confusion after they changed the single 3 times, between To ease your Pain, Wish I was over you and Relentless . During this confusing period, Jo eventually announced that she was parting ways with Sanctuary Records, and taking a hiatus from the music industry.

Jo has said in a few interviews over the years, that she would like to get back into the recording studio and work on new music.. hopefully a second album will be on it’s way one day.
